In this 12 month contract key responsibilities will include:
- Design and implement robust and scalable network architectures for rail onboard systems
- Develop network blueprints and standards for onboard communication systems, ensuring reliable and secure connectivity.
- Integrate IT and OT systems to ensure seamless communication and data exchange between onboard and ground-based systems.
- Develop and implement strategies for effective IT/OT convergence, including cybersecurity measures.
- Deploy network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points, on rail vehicles.
- Implement and manage cybersecurity protocols to protect onboard networks from threats and vulnerabilities.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to network security such as NIST800-160, ISO27001 etc.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, OT, and rail operations, to ensure integrated and efficient network solutions.
- Provide technical support and training to staff and stakeholders regarding network systems and IT/OT integration.
- Perform Risk Assessment (DRA) and Threat and Vulnerability Assessment (TVA) for onboard architecture.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of network designs, configurations, and maintenance procedures.
- Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Network Engineering and architecture, preferably in the rail or transportation industry
- Experience with network design and implementation for onboard systems in rail vehicles
- Proficiency in configuring and managing network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points).
- Understanding of rail industry standards and regulations related to network and cybersecurity including AS 7770, TS 5070
- Hands on experience with industrial communication protocols (i.e. Layer 2, Layer 3 networking config, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, OPC-UA, CAN bus, DDS, SafeDDS).
- Experience with industrial communication protocols (i.e. Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, OPC-UA, CAN bus) is highly advantageous.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, CISSP) are a plus
- Knowledge of network, server and cyber security best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with AWS cloud platform is highly advantageous.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and communications skills.
