Network Engineer (Communications)

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer (Communications) for an Owners team vacancy working on network architectures for Rail vehicles/systems.
12-month contract. Perth based (eastern suburbs). Monday to Friday 38 hour week.
  
Your Responsibilities:

• Design and implement robust and scalable network architectures for rail onboard systems.
• Develop network blueprints and standards for onboard communication systems, ensuring reliable and secure connectivity.
• Integrate IT and OT systems to ensure seamless communication and data exchange between onboard and ground-based systems.
• Develop and implement strategies for effective IT/OT convergence, including cybersecurity measures.
• Deploy network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points, on rail vehicles.
• Implement and manage cybersecurity protocols to protect onboard networks from threats and vulnerabilities.  

Your Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Network Engineering and architecture, preferably in the rail or transportation industry.
• Experience with network design and implementation for onboard systems in rail vehicles.
• Proficiency in configuring and managing network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points).
• Understanding of rail industry standards and regulations related to network and cybersecurity including AS 7770, TS 5070.
• Hands on experience with industrial communication protocols (i.e. Layer 2, Layer 3 networking config, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, OPC-UA, CAN bus, DDS, SafeDDS).
• Experience with industrial communication protocols (i.e. Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, OPC-UA, CAN bus) is highly advantageous.
