Role Description
The Cyber Security and Networks Branch within DFAT’s Information Management and Technology Division has a requirement for 2x labour-hire resources to fill the role of Network Engineer to assist with the day-to-day operations of DFAT’s global network and gateways. These Network Engineers are expected to participate in strategy, planning, and innovation activities to advance Departmental and Whole Government priorities and to strengthen and modernise DFAT’s gateway environment.
Requirement The Network Engineers will be required to:
- Assist with operations of global systems.
- Provide technical contributions to both network and gateway technologies, including (but not limited to) Juniper, Cisco, Trend Micro, F5, Clearswift and Fortigate.
- Contribute to documentation.
To fulfil the responsibilities of the role, the successful candidate must be able satisfy the following selection criteria:
Essential criteria:
- Minimum five years relevant experience demonstrating strong gateway engineering and technical skills and knowledge.
- Experience in the development of gateway high-level designs and detailed designs.
- Ability to articulate technical detail through design and implementation plans.
- Highly developed diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- A broad understanding of industry, whole of government direction, emerging technologies and how they can be applied to solve business problems.
- Strong stakeholder management and client services skills.
- A strong understanding of ASD Essential 8 and experience with contributing to security accreditation of ICT systems.
- Experience in the day-to-day operations of highly secured networks and cryptography solutions
