Job description

About us:

We’re a team that cares about you and your community. United Energy (UE) is an essential service, supplying reliable, safe and affordable electricity across the east and south-east of Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, vital for our customers and a clean energy future.

In designing and delivering these services, our people are united by a real sense of purpose to empower customer choices in ways that are important for our communities and the environment. Using advanced analytics, knowledge built through years of practical expertise, partnerships with leading researchers, and the courage to experiment, our people are proud to be disruptive influencers amongst the electricity industry.

Increasingly, our networks are connecting new large-scale renewable energy generators and integrating technologies like solar, batteries and electric vehicles as customers change the way they generate, use, store and share power. This demand is transforming the electricity market faster than any change we’ve ever seen before.  As a result, our people are at the frontline in developing and implementing innovative technologies and solutions necessary for the future of our industry not only in Victoria but globally.

About the Role:

We have a new permanent position now open for a Network Program Controller to join our Electricity Networks team.

This position is responsible for driving control functions to enable an optimal, transparent, and risk-managed delivery of the Network Program to business needs and expectations, with a particular focus on the network analytics program. Control functions include cost control, scheduling, prioritisation, reporting and governance oversight.

A permanent role that should not be missed!

In this role you will deliver:

  • Develop and maintain the forecast and reporting system for projects, covering financial and time data, milestones, project lifecycle status and enabling production of business and delivery manager reports
  • Report and constructively influence the advancement and development of projects through the gated approvals process
  • Track and manage resource utilisation, seeking opportunities to maximise utilisation by ensuring a steady release of work
  • Track and update use case delivery as it progresses from initiation (stage 1) through to benefit realisation (stage 5) in the Improvements Register, maintaining appropriate artefacts as evidence
  • Facilitate ideation workshops quarterly / bi-monthly, or as required
  • Prepare reporting for INMS Governance forums as required, including acting as meeting secretary, noting meeting minutes and actions
  • Assist in identifying and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of PMO work processes, systems and tools
  • Facilitate and lead review meetings with key portfolio/program level stakeholders to report and review program time, cost, gate status, risks, opportunities and any escalations
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with all key stakeholders, including Information Technology, Regulation, Finance and others to enable successful delivery of the program

To succeed in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in project management discipline or similar
  • Working knowledge of project governance, methodologies, standards and templates
  • Proficiency in Financial analysis, budgeting and financial forecasting
  • Experience in program management or PMO environment using prescribed methods and tools
