Reporting to the Head of Editorial, the News Writer / Producer will cover the biggest stories that matter to Aussies, across news, social issues, internet culture and more. You will have a knack for hunting down original stories and angles, won’t be afraid of picking up the phone, and have a passion for delivering ethical reporting that is fast, informative and factual.

You will be motivated, enthusiastic and ready to take the next step forward in your reporting career. 

You’ll understand and be able to execute the PEDESTRIAN.TV tone and not be afraid to inject your sense of humour where appropriate. You’ll also be keen to help mentor the next generation of reporters and be willing to travel for stories if need be.

The role is a full-time position and is based out of Pedestrian Group’s offices in either Sydney and Melbourne.

We’re keen for a candidate who:

• Can confidently report news stories important to P.TV’s 18-34 audience, including state and federal politics, local and international news, internet culture, renters’ rights, social justice issues, or whatever hot topic young people are talking about.
• Is confident seeking original stories and investigations, as well as keen to write hot takes on the issues that matter
• Has their finger on the pulse of online conversations
• Has a unique tone of voice or point of view
• Has a Bachelor’s degree in media, communications, or journalism (preferred but not mandatory)
• Has experience in optimising stories for SEO (preferred but not mandatory)
• Has experience posting to Facebook, Instagram and X business pages (preferred but not mandatory)
