About North East Link
The Spark Consortium has been selected to deliver the Central Package of the North East Link Project - Victoria's biggest road project.
The Spark Consortium's Design and Construction Contractor - which comprises Webuild, CPB Contractors, GS Engineering and Construction and China Construction Oceania - will deliver the twin three-lane tunnels and key interchanges for the project.
The Central Package will be delivered as a Public Private Partnership and provides three-lane twin tunnels that will close the missing link in Melbourne's freeway network from the M80 Ring Road to an upgraded Eastern Freeway, reducing journey times and diverting heavy vehicles away from local roads. Up to 135,000 vehicles will use North East Link every day, reducing congestion in the north-east while maintaining local roads.
About the Opportunity
To support the delivery of the North East Link Central Package we are seeking applications for an experienced Senior Safety Advisor with a background in civil construction, tunnelling or manufacturing projects.
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to join an established team who can support and drive our one HSEQ Culture on site while providing support and coordination of safety and health practices, systems and procedures on the project.
Please note this is a permanent night shift role.
This role will be accountable for:
- Mentoring and coaching personnel to drive a culture of "Safety and Health above all else"
- Investigating incidents and events, and responding with corrective actions
- Monitoring S&H performance and ensuring compliance with S&H policy, procedures and legislative requirements
- Conducting regular inspections and audits and maintaining associated documentation and records
- Implementing and monitoring safety and health controls and communication to stakeholders and teams for inclusion in work planning activities
- Assisting in the development and analysis of hazard and risk identification processes, and the application of suitable controls
- Conducting or facilitating safety educational programs
- Assisting with reporting requirements as required
- Influencing and fostering a strong HSE Culture through strong leadership and communication skills
- Demonstrated understanding and application of relevant legislation and best practice in a construction environment
Minimum requirements for this role are:
- Ideally, 5+ years' experience in a similar role
- Significant experience within Safety in the civil construction industry
- Experience in managing safety and health controls within the construction environment.
- Ability to build relationships and rapport with people at all levels
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Computer literacy
- Current Driver's Licence
