About Liverpool Hospital:
- It was founded in 1813 and is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.
- The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.
- It is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.
- Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the University of NSW and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.
- Liverpool Hospital is in the heart of Liverpool City and is close to public transport and major shopping centre (Liverpool Westfield’s).

What you'll be doing
The Nurse Manager Clinical Practice and Innovation is responsible for the promotion of a strong culture of contemporary evidence based nursing and midwifery practice, quality and innovation and a culture of safety. The Nurse Manager Clinical Practice & Innovation is a member of the Liverpool Hospital Nursing and Midwifery Directorate and works collaboratively with the Nursing Executive Team and both internal and external stakeholders to create a strong culture of safety and quality, demonstrating leadership, innovation and evidenced based practice. This position will support the SWSLHD Strategic Plan as well as the facility/service operational and/or clinical service plan and any relevant service operational or strategic plans.
The role will provide guidance and support to ensure that there is a focus on service development and appropriate oversight of practices, trends and indicators. Ongoing assessment and improvement in operational processes and clinical outcomes is an inherent responsibility of this position. The Clinical Practice & Innovation role fosters and maintain close professional relationships with relevant executive teams, clinical managers, peers and district managers to achieve organisational goals.
How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible. * Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent work experience or a combination of study and experience deemed appropriate by SWSLHD. Current unrestricted Australian drivers licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) subject to obtaining NSW drivers licence within 3 months of appointment.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership as a resource person and role model in the clinical setting through the development of professional relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to utilise a broad range of communication skills in a variety of settings, ensuring that you are able to effectively represent nursing and midwifery, and collaborate with staff and other health professionals for the best outcomes of the service.
- Demonstrated ability to acquire and utilise sound and contemporary knowledge and apply to nursing and midwifery professional practice, service planning and management strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to monitor performance for both individuals and teams. This includes the ability to undertake a range of performance management activities.
- Developing and facilitating quality and safety projects for the nursing and midwifery services incorporating risk management and best practice.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to effectively analyse data, prepare reports and actions in order to communicate safe quality care to key stake holders, mangers and consumers.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and the development of an operational plan for the service and implementation of organisational change.
