Located in Redhead (20 minutes from Newcastle CBD).
The successful applicant will be a part of a team of 14 people looking after a client with complex physical needs in a modern, well equipped facility. We of course operate 24 x 7.
The successful applicant will be able to work successfully within a pair, sometimes autonomously, and within a larger team; reporting to the Nursing Coordinator and Manager.
Full Award penalty rates paid for Afternoon Shift, Night Shift, Weekends and Public Holidays
The position offered is Part Time; ideally, candidates will have a degree of flexibility with their day and shift availability.
Qualifications & experience
- Nursing qualifications well regarded.
- Cert III AIN and Nursing Students encouraged to apply.
- Previous experience working with clients with a disability is preferred but not expected.
- Preferably Medication endorsed.
- Current first aid/CPR training preferred
- Drivers licence is essential
- Must be COVID-19 Vaccinated.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Personal nursing care and attending to ADLs
- Provide accurate and comprehensive daily reporting and participate in maintaining updated care plans.
- Represent the client in appointments and discussions with other health professionals.Administration of Medication via PEG tube
- Manual handling - using a Hoist and Pat slide for transfers
- Follow WH&S measures to ensure no risk of harm to client or caregivers.
- Help client maintain nutrition and hydration by helping with meal preparation
- The ability to advocate for the client and provide companionship
- Driving client to and from appointments
- Taking client to outings; music gigs, beach etc,
- Assist with Physiotherapy and Hydrotherapy.
- Assisting with housekeeping for the client.
