Access theThe Nurse Practitioner Candidate (NPC) is an advanced practice position delivering an expert level of clinical and professional practice within their area of practice in the Hospital and Health Service.The NPC will take a role in ensuring targets are met in an efficient and effective manner which will include collaborating with the multidisciplinary partners to ensure patients receive the most appropriate care in the most appropriate place by the most appropriate personnel. It is therefore important that the successful applicant can demonstrate expert knowledge and skills as well as the ability to communicate effectively, work well in a team environment and influence change.The Minor Illness and Injury Clinic (MIIC) based at Caloundra Health Service (CHS) is a valuable and highly utilised primary health clinic, offering acute care options to low acuity illness and injury type presentations. The model within MIIC enables the community to gain immediate access to care and ongoing collaborative health management by ensuring the patients journey is managed in the appropriate setting at the appropriate time.Your key responsibilities
- Nominated as Medicine Store and S8 Safe Manager as per the Substance Management Plan for SCHHS Regulated Places, as required.
- Assume responsibility and accountability for practising in accordance with the Nurses and Midwifery Board Australia Nurse Practitioner Registration Standards and in line with the SCHHS guideline for NPC role development (available on SCHHS website).
- Contribute to positive patient outcomes under supervision as an NPC by:
- applying advanced knowledge, communication and complex decision-making skills and clinical competencies for extended practice
- performing extended comprehensive assessment, history and physical examinations
- adhering to best practice standards and evidence-based practice
- addressing inconsistencies between practice and policy.
- Provide leadership in a multidisciplinary environment which supports the achievement of performance indicators and system and quality improvement initiatives and change management.
