This is for a Permanent Full Time Position at 76 hours per fortnight

To be successful, you will have...

  • Eligibility for registration in the category of Registered Nurse with endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of illness and injury relevant to the role.
  • Well-developed clinical problem-solving skills including conceptual and analytical ability.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including negotiation skills.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislative and health regulating Acts including legislative obligations.
  • Experience in quality improvement, its practical application in meeting patient’s needs and its relationship to strategic development.
  • Current C Class drivers licence and an ability and willingness to travel including overnight stays away from home.

Position Profile:

Provides advanced nursing assessment, diagnosis, care and intervention to patients and families within the scope of practice of a Nurse Practitioner and the site designation(s). Developments and maintains evaluation processes of patient outcomes relevant to the Nurse Practitioner scope of practice.

Responsible for the operational management of the Remote Nursing Post or Nursing Post.

  • WACHS supports flexible working practices and consideration will be given to flexible work/roster options, where operationally appropriate. 

The Country Nursing & Midwifery incentive program is available to new and existing nurses and midwives - across a broad range of patient-facing roles - on fixed term or permanent contracts at 76 select locations. Eligible nurses and midwives can receive between $5,000 and $17,000 in support over 12 months (WA Country Health Service - Country Nursing and Midwifery Incentive Program).

Area Profile

WACHS Kimberley is the most northern health region of WACHS. The Kimberley region has approximately 200 Aboriginal communities, over 34 different Aboriginal language groups and 45 percent of the population are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. WACHS Kimberley consists of six hospitals, an inpatient mental health unit, three Community Directorates and a Corporate Office. WACHS Kimberley provides hospital, community health, public health, remote area health, community aged care, and mental health services across the region through a dedicated team of medical, nursing, Aboriginal health, allied health, and support staff.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
