What you'll be doing:
A wonderful opportunity is now available for a Nurse Unit Manager Level 2 in a Permanent Full Time role. This position is situated in the scenic Blue Mountains, Katoomba.
This imperative role will see that you ensure that the physical, human and financial resources at the local level are managed effectively to meet the needs of patients and service demand.
Your role as the Nurse Unit Manager has you act as an advocate for patients, carers/family and staff and promotes consumer involvement in care delivery.
The role and responsibilities of the Nurse Unit Manager includes a duty of care to staff to ensure that there is a safe working environment and that staff are developed appropriately to meet the service demands and to realise their potential, given the role and responsibilities of the position it is important the NUM is physically present on the unit for the majority of the time supervising clinical care and attending matters related to effective functioning of the unit/service.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
Selection criteria to be addressed: * Current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with APHRA Division 1 Registered Nurse

  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications in Mental Health Nursing, management or working towards.
  • Demonstrated skills in quality improvement/redesign projects and the associated change management.
  • Demonstrated sound financial skills with an ability to interpret financial reports
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, manage and develop nursing staff to maintain a positive workplace culture.
  • Proven ability to assess nursing utilisation and resource requirements within agreed targets.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel within the LHD in accordance with the position.
