Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction to the oncology nursing team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care in line with best practice standards.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the oncology unit, including staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure the safe and effective delivery of oncology nursing care.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and professional development within the oncology unit.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and ensure seamless transitions throughout the continuum of care.
- Oversee the management of oncology medications, treatments, and equipment, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practice guidelines.
- Act as a resource and mentor for oncology nursing staff, providing guidance, support, and clinical expertise as needed.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and risk management activities to enhance patient outcomes and safety.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Registered Nurse qualification with current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Postgraduate qualification in oncology nursing or relevant specialty (highly desirable).
- Proven experience in oncology nursing, including leadership or management experience.
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in the delivery of oncology care, including chemotherapy administration and symptom management.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and build positive working relationships with colleagues at all levels.
