The Position
We are seeking an experienced and driven Nurse Unit Manager (Perioperative Services) to lead and coordinate the clinical practice, patient experience and business performance of the Perioperative Services.  This position ensures exceptional evidence-based patient care is delivered through the management of human, financial, patient safety and material resources in accordance with professional standards, organisational goals, mission and values. This position is being offered on a permanent full-time basis.

Day to day duties for this role will include (but not be limited to):

  • Provide effective clinical leadership and direction required to ensure the delivery of high level clinical performance of the Perioperative Services Department
  • Coordinate activities on a day to day basis to ensure optimal list flow, workforce rostering and assignment along with provision of appropriate instrumentation and equipment
  • Promote the safe and effective delivery of services through the monitoring of clinical practice
  • Provide clinical expertise when required to ensure the delivery of safe and quality patient care
  • Promote and maintain co-operation and effective communication with all internal and external service providers

  1. Current Nursing registration with AHPRA
  2. Postgraduate qualifications in specific perioperative nursing or Health Management (highly desirable)
  3. Relevant knowledge of the Sterilisation Department
  4. Operational knowledge and skills in Australian & New Zealand National Standards, also the National Safety & Quality Health Service Standards relating to the Perioperative Environment
  5. High level knowledge of clinical governance principles and demonstrated working knowledge of clinical documentation requirements relevant to the role

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) Requirements
It is a mandatory condition of employment that some roles within our hospital require you to be vaccinated, and remain vaccinated during your employment, against some or all of the following vaccine preventable diseases; Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping cough), and Hepatitis. Mandatory vaccination requirements for this role will be discussed further with applicants throughout the application process.
