About the role
The Multi-Purpose Service model (MPS) exists in smaller communities and is aimed at integrating a range of health services including acute care, subacute care (including respite and palliative care), emergency, allied health, primary health and community health services under one management structure.
The Nursing Unit Manager is responsible for the efficient management of the nursing and other relevant staff under their delegation and coordination of the provision of nursing care. The Nursing Unit Manager leads nursing staff, ensures effective liaison between all health professionals and is responsible for the environmental and work, health and safety management of the unit.
Clinician engagement and leadership has been a prominent feature of the public health system for a number of years, where clinician led clinical standards, safety and quality improvements have become a major focus. The Local Health District (LHD) is committed to the strengthening and ongoing involvement and clinician engagement of staff that provide direct patient care in the planning, delivery, improvement and evaluation of health services.

If you have:
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) and post graduate qualification in Aged Care and/or leadership/management OR demonstrated leadership/management professional development
- Motivational, leadership, interpersonal and high-level communication skills
- Ability to be innovative, creative and self-directed related to clinical practice
- Understanding of, and commitment to the effective and meaningful engagement of clinicians within the multi-disciplinary team in the decision-making process that impacts on positive patient outcomes
