Nursery Person
About your new role
As Nursery Person at the Coombabah Nursery, you will play an important role in the propagation, production and maintenance of both internally grown and held plant stock which are distributed throughout the City of Gold Coast.
You will undertake general nursery work activities including weeding, potting, loading, and off-loading plant stock and other horticultural maintenance activities associated with commercial production nursery operations.
Roles and responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Production and maintenance of plant nursery eg propagation, potting, spraying, fertilising, pruning, maintaining trees, shrubs and plant material.
- Operation of plant equipment including loading, unloading and moving of plants and plant material using relevant machinery (skid steer/bobcat, forklift, truck and trailer, buggies, motorised spray equipment, hand tools, power tools)
- Selecting plants and providing advice on plant specifications and requirements to the public.
- Community involvement in the City of Gold Coast’s Free Plant Giveaway Scheme.
- General upkeep of the nursery
- Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

What you bring to your new role:
Certificate III in Horticulture (or studying towards) or equivalent knowledge
Australian Drivers Licence C Class Unrestricted
General Construction Induction Card (White)
You will have or willing to obtain
Australian Driver’s Licence Class MR (Medium Rigid)
You will have or willing to obtain High Risk Work Licence Class LF (Forklift)
You will have or studying towards Commercial Operators Licence (ACDC)
You will have or studying towards Skid steer loader competency
Physically fit and able to undertake a range of duties including manual handling activities
An interest in developing your knowledge of woody and herbaceous plants and may have previous experience working in a large-scale plant production or retail nursery
Highly developed customer service and communication skills
High level of motivation and the ability to prioritise and multi-task in a dynamic environment
Team player and also able to work semi-autonomously under supervision.
