AddressDmara Pty Ltd trading as Avonova is an agricultural enterprise located in the Pemberton region of South West Western Australia. We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Nursery Technician to work with our team.
The nursery is one of the few specialised avocado nurseries in Australia producing clonally propagated avocado trees. Experience in these techniques will be an important consideration in selection of personnel.
The role of Nursery Technician will include:
· Overseeing planting seeds and propagating seedlings, grafting rootstock varieties, etiolation and grafting known varieties of avocado.
· Developing new methods of avocado farming and utilising land use
· Understanding the local soil characteristics and identifying nutrient deficiencies
· Identifying and managing pests and weeds harmful to avocado crops
· Field work to select appropriate budwood and tending specimen trees
· Work closely with the Farm Manager on planning harvest and production processes
The minimum qualification will be a Certificate IV in Horticulture (AHC40416 ) however experience with clonally propagating avocado and willingness to work with a small team will be important selection criteria.
The property is located approximately 12km from the town of Pemberton in Western Australia. The successful recipient will be required to either already live locally or be prepared to relocate.
The position is a staff role with normal leave entitlements.
Remuneration for this role will be in the $70,000 ~ $75,000 range.
