About the role
The 12-month full-time Occupational Therapist role located at Neringah Hospital in Wahroonga is to work within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare to ensure a high standard of Occupational Therapy service is provided to patients of the Hospital, along with appropriate support and advice to their carers. The Occupational Therapist will participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure a patient-centred, evidence-based, continuous quality improvement work environment that is consistent with the values and ethics of HammondCare and Occupational Therapy Australia.
The essence of this role
- Provision of effective and efficient Occupational Therapy service to clients and appropriate support and advice to their carers
- Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team in assessing patients’ level of functional and care needs, setting care goals and providing appropriate treatment
- Participate as a member of the HammondCare team in the application of the organisation’s Mission and values to the pursuit of its objectives in a client-centred, continuous quality improvement work environment
- A tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and registration as an Occupational Therapist with AHPRA
- Significant practical experience or Extensive Knowledge in providing Occupational Therapy Services in a Rehabilitation, Aged Care or Palliative Care setting. Experience across inpatient and outpatient/ community settings would be desirable
- A current driver’s licence and safe driving record
- Willingness to travel between HammondCare’s sites and services
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated organisation and time management skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Experience in conducting home assessments and equipment prescription
- Empathy and patience
