About the role
As the successful applicant you will work alongside your peer Clinical Lead Hand Therapist, Plastics Surgery team, Advanced Practice Hand Therapists, Occupational Therapy (OT) senior management team and Hand Therapy team in delivering a high quality evidence based Hand Therapy Service. You will play an integral role in clinical service delivery through the assessment of patients and determination of pathways of care.
In working with all stakeholders, the key objectives of the role include:
- Performing comprehensive consumer assessments that determine appropriate care pathways.
- Working effectively and collaboratively as a member of the highly performing inter-professional teams that include plastic surgeons, hand therapists, advanced practice hand therapists, nursing staff and physiotherapists, in the delivery of care.
- Providing clinical leadership, education and expert consultancy to Barwon Health Hand Therapy staff and the multi-disciplinary team.
- In conjunction with the Hand Therapy clinical lead, OT site manager, and the plastic surgery team, assist in the strategic planning, implementation, coordination and review of services.

The Hand Therapy team are part of Barwon Health’s wider Allied Health department and integrated into many service programs across the continuum of care. We are an innovative team with new initiatives currently underway to assist the plastics surgery team through Advanced Practice roles with the assessment and management of trauma conditions and to reduced waitlists for patients with chronic hand conditions.
