Job description

Location Profile

Mount Waverley Heights Primary School is located in an established residential area of Mount Waverley within the City of Monash. Our student population is primarily drawn from Mount Waverley and the surrounding suburbs of Oakleigh and Chadstone. The current school population, of approximately 425 students, is well serviced by attractive buildings and landscaped grounds, which command an impressive view of the Melbourne City skyline. Established in 1967, the school population is experiencing considerable growth due to excellent academic success and a future focussed learning approach. With a modernisation of the school we have exceptional educational facilities.

MWHPS formed an industry partnership with Datacom, Google, hp and BenQ transforming our IT practices across the school. Becoming an IT Beacon School has helped us to embed 21st century learning skills as well as prepare our students for an ever changing world. In 2019, we also became a Google Reference School.

Vision: To connect, challenge and inspire our students through their learning; developing a sense of who they are, where they fit in and how they can make a difference.

Mission: To create a learning environment where we:

Connect students to their own emotions and feelings so that they can develop their resilience and empathy, exercise optimism and build effective relationships with others.

Challenge students to be critical and creative thinkers; to question, evaluate and to discover new possibilities, preparing them for a lifetime of learning new things in an ever changing world.

Inspire students to WANT to make a difference by appreciating and understanding the satisfaction that comes from being selfless.

Selection Criteria

SC1Development and delivery of a comprehensive Occupational Therapist service (including appropriate assessment) and a capacity to work across all areas of the school.

SC2Highly developed organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to work independently, utilise effective time management strategies, establish priorities and meet deadlines.

SC3Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with a range of professionals, teachers and parents on service delivery and student-based issues.

SC4A commitment to professional learning and growth, including the delivery of professional development to others.

Role

Two days a week - 8.30am - 4.30pm

Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions.  Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under a wide range of conditions, subject to the size and complexity of school operations.

Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction minimal.  Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school.  Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.

Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.

An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor.  Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employees position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the delivery of support services to students, teachers, parents and other school clients.
  • Ensure all external providers deliver the required service.
