About the role
- Plan, deliver and evaluate a person’s ability to carry out essential daily tasks which build on their current strengths, needs and priorities.
- In-clinic and community based occupational therapy assessments including all areas of activities of daily living, mobility and home safety:
- Equipment prescription and relevant clinical justification (basic equipment through to more complex specialized equipment
- Recommendation of community-based services
- Equipment applications for a variety of government equipment programs
- Compensable client assessment, intervention and report writing
- Communicating assessed needs clearly and precisely to client and funding
organisation within appropriate time frames
- Providing clients with all available options / solutions within assessment brief and
NDIS funding guidelines. - Completing relevant paperwork relating to assessments (both clinical and administrative) to a high standard, including client file case notes.
- Liaison with other community-based organisations and GPs etc. to ensure best practice in holistic client focused care.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with clients, families, team members and other key stakeholders.
- Commitment to the ongoing development of McCall and its services.
- Support and supervision of less experienced colleagues within the organisation.
- Assist with quality induction of new staff members as required and supervision of students.
- Ensure compliance with our duty of care to clients (Code of Practice).
- Responsible for ensuring that McCall Gardens Services complies with its legal requirements and strives for best practice in the provision of a safe workplace for all
- Work within the policies and procedures of the organisation particularly those promoting a safe working environment (including OH&S procedures)
About you
As a positive role model with a can-do attitude, you will have a high degree of initiative and strong desire to achieve outstanding results for your clients. Ideally, you will have:
- Experience working within and an understanding of the NDIS framework, including a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with individuals and their families/carers.
- At least two years’ experience working as an accredited Occupational therapist within the NDIS, Aged Care or private sectors.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
- Willingness to liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure continuity of care and support needs of our participants.
- A willingness to understand and fulfill McCall Gardens' Vision, Mission, Values.
- Strong administrative skills ensuring accuracy of processes and documents.
- A practical approach to problem-solving, decision making and balancing priorities.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development within both work time and personal time, including maintaining up to date knowledge of evidence-based practice.
Essential Criteria
- Bachelor of Applied (Occupational Therapy) or, Bachelor of Occupational Therapy or, Masters of Occupational Therapy
- Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Cleared and valid police check
- Cleared and valid Working with Children Check
- Cleared and valid NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate
- Professional Indemnity Insurance (cover for minimum $10 million)
- Valid driver’s license (role requires travel to deliver services)
- Must satisfy all visa requirements for working in Australia
