Job Description
Elastomers Australia are seeking a hands-on and practical OHS Solutions Advisor to join our team. Based in our Singleton Branch in New South Wales, the focus is to take a hands-on approach in working with our site based and manufacturing teams, maintaining OHS records to meet legal obligations and risk management objectives as well as partnering with Managers and Employees to proactively and practically achieve the best OH&S practices and compliance. You will be fully supported by our team of safety professionals across Australia.
Duties
- Attend client mine sites on a regular basis
- Whilst on site, be actively involved in driving a strong safety culture
- Providing advice and support to employees, supervisors and managers regarding Health and Safety related matters
- Facilitate toolbox meetings
- Maintain branch compliance registers including arranging inspections on tooling and equipment as required
- Attend client steering committee meetings where applicable
- Be involved in the orientation and induction of all new staff including contractors and ensure all OHS legislative requirements are met
- Assist with the facilitation of in-house training in relation to OHS, health & well-being and legislation policy and procedure changes
- Assist with the Elastomers Australia Return to Work Process
- Assist in the internal auditing process
- Assist with co-ordination of OHS processes and procedure implementation in line with the National OHS Plan
- Be actively involved in the investigation process of any incidents that occur across our Australian operations (on site or in the branch)
Requirements
- Minimum Certificate IV in OH&S or similar/equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
- TAE 40122 Trainer Assessor (desirable)
- Exposure to OHS reporting systems (MyOSH desirable)
- Proactive, practical, and prepared to be mentored
- Exceptional communication skills – written and verbal
- Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills and record keeping
- Working knowledge of OH&S legislation, mining related legislation and industry best practices
- Trained in First Aid (or be willing to obtain)
- Rehabilitation & Return to Work Coordination is desirable but not essential
- Ability to work within an organisation with a flexible, cooperative, and team-orientated approach.
