About the Opportunity
As our Senior People & Capability (P&C) Advisor, you’ll play a crucial role in enhancing our people management strategies across our business units at Clarence Correctional Facility. Reporting to the P&C Manager, this position calls for a proactive and skilled HR professional dedicated to developing and implementing effective people and capability strategies. You will partner with management to foster organisational development, culture change, and manage absenteeism, ensuring alignment with Serco’s strategic goals.
This role is based on-site 5 days per week. Up to $5,000 relocation support is available for the right candidate.
What you’ll be doing
- Strategic HR Management: Providing high-quality advice and support on all HR aspects including absenteeism, recruitment, policies, and employee relations
- Stakeholder Engagement: Building and maintaining influential leaderships, understanding business strategies to deliver tailored people management solutions
- Policy Compliance: Ensuring adherence to HR policies, procedures, and legal standards, effectively managing HR risks
- Casework Support: Assisting with employee casework below SMT level, handling disciplinaries, terminations and grievances
- Health & Wellbeing: Supporting wellbeing strategies and initiatives, liaising with relevant teams to promote a healthy workplace culture
- Cyclical HR Activities: Contributing to divisional and corporate HR initiatives to meet business objectives
About you
You are an experienced HR professional who thrives in a dynamic environment, showcasing a practical and results-oriented approach. With a background in industrial relations, particularly in unionised settings, you possess strong analytical, negotiation, and influencing skills. You are committed to fostering a positive workplace culture and are adept at managing complex employee relations matters.
Your ideal skills & experience
- Ability to obtain a Federal Police Clearance
- Tertiary qualifications in HR Management or a related field
- Proven experience in industrial relations, supporting complex employee matters, and managing HR functions in a unionised environment
- Operational experience in a detention/security setting is desirable
- Superior communication, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills
- High-level negotiation and influencing abilities with a capacity to develop strong stakeholder relationships
