Anglo American Steelmaking Coal
Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland's Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.
Job Description
Join us in this Operational Planning Specialist role to help implement significant business improvements to achieve our ambition of being the world's most valued mining company. This role is based at our award-winning Moranbah North Mine, where you will have the opportunity make a difference to the way we operate on a day-to-day basis. This is a unique opportunity to enhance your career in the mining industry and utlise your underground experience in an impactful role that will utilize your flair for planning and business improvement.
Reporting into the Business Integration Manager, you will use your skills in data analytics and business improvement in order to produce the most cost-effective operating plan to meet agreed business expectations. Your plans will be based on in depth scenario analysis, using inputs from a variety of systems, and input from your colleagues in other departments at site.
Some of your duties will include:
- Translate business expectations and targets into site specific objectives;
- Produce the 12-24 month business strategy in conjunction with your manager and the wider team;
- Work closely with cross-functional departments to drive business improvement initiatives
- Provide detailed information regarding the Routine Operating Schedule, as well as visibility of outputs from the Operating Master Schedule and Expenditure Schedule;
- Facilitate Operational Planning across the site to collect key inputs to scheduled work in the Operating Master Schedule;
- Monitor and improve the effectiveness of the Operational Planning processes on site.
Ideally you will have demonstrated experience in operational Planning within an Underground Mining environment.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in a role aimed at business improvement, process improvement or operational planning
- An ability to work with multiple systems and stakeholders in order to pull together and streamline processes
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop relationships and influence stakeholders;
- Exposure to Project Management methodologies, in particular Lean principles
- Technical knowledge of business improvement tools and techniques;
- Previous experience with Smartsheet and Miro (or similar tools)
- Experience in operations, financial and risk modelling;
- Knowledge of financial metrics and budgeting tools.
- Tertiary qualifications in business, finance or engineering related fields (desirable)
