Reporting to the Operational Risk Manager, this role will partner with the business as a trusted advisor, providing risk management advice, support, assurance and challenge to the respective portfolios, such as the Suncorp Bank Home Lending portfolio.

What you’ll do
- Support the Bank to embed a culture of effective risk management.
- Contribute to driving simplification and an increased awareness of risk management through successful interaction and strong relationship management with key stakeholders across the portfolios.
- Work closely with the 1st line of defence to ensure that appropriate risk and compliance obligations exist, and that governance processes and reporting are implemented effectively
- Drive and assist in the design, implementation and on-going maintenance of Operational Risk and control management methodology and practices by providing an independent view, specialist support and advice to the Bank.
- Stay ahead of industry and regulatory developments, contributing to the identification and mitigation of risks across the Bank
- Ensure timely escalation of material adverse matters, systemic issues, or inactions to the Risk Manager for swift resolution
- Proactively lead and coach the Bank's teams, elevating their capabilities in risk management framework and methodology, thereby enhancing the organization's overall risk identification and management skills
What you’ll bring
- Degree in a business or risk-related discipline (desired)
- Postgraduate qualifications highly regarded
- 5+ years of operational or financial risk management experience in banking
- 5+ years of experience in Operational Risk management or business operations management in Banking management.
- Proven experience in dealing with multiple stakeholders, including senior management.
- Experience in the co-ordination of key programs of work or projects.
- Experience in balancing risk-related requirements with commercial realities, budgetary and business goals.
