Your opportunity:

Our Operational Standards team have an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to join their team!

The Operational Standards team plays a critical role within the Operations teams as it defines the pathway of how Operations can become a Utility of the Future and achieve Urban Utilities goals and vision.

The Operational Standards team is accountable for developing the operational strategies, protocols and decision support tools and Operational Standards that will protect public health, deliver an exceptional customer experience, minimise cost in the long run and comply with our regulatory obligations and safe drinking water requirements for the operation of our network assets.

Reporting to the Manager Network Engineering, the Operational Standards Leader is accountable for leading a small team of two Engineers and one Senior Water Quality Specialist who define the operational plan to achieve the outcomes, and create tools required to manage the operational risk and support other teams.

About you:

  • A demonstrated ability to understand the technical dimensions of operating a water utility and the associated regulatory obligations,
  • Significant operational, systems or process engineering experience,
  • A proven ability to translate a highly technical topic into corporate terms to effectively communicate opportunities and risk,
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and shift priorities as required in support of changing business need and manage trade-offs, to achieve best for business solutions in a fast-paced environment
  • A genuine passion for being a great leader and wanting to mentor, coach and develop your team to achieve success
  • Relevant degree or qualification in engineer, with experience of qualifications in hydraulics, production planning or water chemistry highly regarded.
