The Southern Region Waste Resource Authority (SRWRA) is a regional subsidiary established by the Cities of Onkaparinga, Marion, and Holdfast Bay, pursuant to Section 43 of the Local Government Act, 1999. Under our Charter, SRWRA is responsible for providing and operating waste management and resource recovery services on behalf of our constituent Councils and wider communities.
Our core business is the management of our integrated waste and recycling facilities. We partner with industry experts and pride ourselves in employing innovative resource recovery solutions to support the circular economy.
Our partners include Integrated Waste Services (IWS) for the provision of the Southern Recycling Centre and Re.Cycle, (Adelaide) a subsidiary of Re.Group, for the provision of the Southern Materials Recovery Facility .
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Operations Manager is responsible for the operation of the landfill and the planning and delivery of maintenance activities for the site. This is an internally focussed role that requires a high level of presence on site and is responsible for EPA licence compliance and safe and efficient operation of SRWRA's landfill and site maintenance activities.
Position Objectives:
- Operations - management of all landfill and maintenance activities including earthworks, landscaping, litter fencing, crushing, and leachate.
- Governance - ensure that all landfill and site operations comply with the relevant environmental standards, SRWRA EPA Licence conditions, Landfill Environmental Management Plan, statutory requirements and SRWRA Policies.
- Community - improve and increase the diversity of materials accepted and maximise waste avoidance, re-use, recycling and recovery opportunities prior to landfill disposal.
- Financial Sustainability - maximising the use of the landfill site, assets and infrastructure to provide a cost efficient and environmentally responsible waste management service.
- Safety and Environmental Compliance - provide leadership for operational staff and supervision of SRWRA's contractors and create and maintain a culture of zero harm and wellbeing within the workplace.
Ideally, you will have a formal technical or business commerce qualification, with proven experience in waste management, landfill, earthmoving, or depot operations.
