Operational understanding and experience within the aviation field are highly desirable, along with proficiency in logistics and problem-solving in a dynamic operational environment.
Position Overview:
As the Operations Manager for our fixed-wing division, you will play a vital role in the seamless coordination and delivery of our aviation services. Leading a team of 15 pilots, your responsibilities will extend to managing bookings, optimising scheduling and ensuring the successful delivery of services to our key stakeholders. Your operational understanding & action-oriented approach, coupled with strong leadership skills, will be instrumental in maintaining our service excellence and customer satisfaction, whilst upholding the highest safety standards. A background as a pilot or in aviation would be advantageous in understanding of the operational challenges and intricacies of our aviation services, however is not essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Management:
- Leading and guiding a team of 15 pilots to ensure adherence to safety standards and operational protocols.
- Facilitating clear and effective communication within the team and with key stakeholders.
- Managing pilot rosters, duty times, and ensuring accurate timesheets and allowances are recorded.
- Logistics and Operations:
- Employing effective problem-solving strategies to navigate the dynamic nature of unscheduled air charters and changing client requirements.
- Coordinating and overseeing aircraft maintenance schedules to ensure the airworthiness and reliability of our fleet.
Contract Management:
- Overseeing the management of a regular contract across the Northern Territory, ensuring compliance and efficient execution.
- Effectively communicating and collaborating with pilots working remotely under the contract.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A formal qualification in Aviation Management, Logistics Management, Business Administration or similar, or demonstrated experience in a related field is desirable.
- Experience in aviation operations management or an advantage.
- Demonstrated understanding of logistics and problem-solving in a dynamic operational environment.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Enthusiasm, flexibility and attention to detail.
- Action-oriented approach and desire for exceptional customer service outcomes.
- Proficiency in coordinating maintenance schedules and managing contractual agreements.
- Familiarity with aviation regulations and safety protocols or willingness to learn.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential in this role.
- Pilot’s license or background in any type of aviation an advantage.
