St John WA is currently seeking an Operational Manager, Specialist Services join our Clinical and Operational Excellence team. This position plays a crucial role in the management and coordination of our Specialist Paramedic teams. Effective operational and clinical leadership will be required to meet service delivery expectations. This position will report directly to the General Manager, Clinical and Operational Excellence and collaborate closely with other clinical leads to achieve key performance outcomes in this field. This is a full-time, 6-month fixed term position.
What you’ll do:
- Promote excellence in business operations through supporting networks with key internal and external stakeholders
- Encourage and facilitate coaching opportunities to produce strong collaboration and positively foster a high performing and continuous culture to optimise business outcomes
- Coordinate the development, monitoring, and advancement of organisational objectives in relation to Specialist service delivery through ensuring capability and competency aligns with contractual and clinical agreements
- Provide consistent, timely and relevant updates to the General Manager and other key stakeholders
- Investigate ERHS-related events and monitor trends in patient outcomes
- Oversee operational administration activity to ensure accurate recording of required data and ensure clinical governance is maintained
What you’ll need:
- Demonstrated experience in senior leadership position within an operational response environment
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload to achieve service area outcomes, administration standards and contractor expectations.
- The capability to build positive working relationships and communicate at all levels across a diverse demographic of internal and external stakeholders that ensure successful outcomes.
- Strong leadership capabilities and the ability to supervise and mentor staff with the ability to work collaboratively with others and foster a cooperative and supportive team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to address issues or proposed initiatives requiring research and/or investigation using problem-solving skills
- Upon successful offer of employment, external candidates will be required to participate in the required immunisation program.

The Selection Process
Qualifying criteria: Demonstrated senior leadership experience within an operational response environment (hospital, emergency services, specialised clinical care)
If you qualify, candidates must be available to participate in a two-stage merit-based selection process involving the following elements:
Stage 1 – Virtual Interview and Psychometric Assessments
- Complete video question responses, sent via Talent Sourcing team.
- Online psychometric assessment – Watson Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal (WGCTA), Advanced Progressive Matrices and NEO.
