MEDICAL LIABILITY REPORT OFFICER JOB SUMMARY
Are you a health professional, looking for a new way to utilize your knowledge without the constant pressure of back-to-back patient appointments? This job is based in our office at Springfield Central, and has minimal patient interaction. It provides a change of pace from standard allied health careers, and it allows you to use your medical knowledge and apply it to current DVA legislation which is used to provide services and support. You will be provided with full on the job training, including the reasoning for writing the reports, how to do a chart review of medical documents and how to access the relevant DVA legislation.
ABOUT US
We are a unique medical service designed to assist former and current Defence personnel plan their transition from military to civilian life. As a medical service that was established by Veterans for Veterans, we aim to complement established medical and ex-service organisations by assisting with DVA Claims, Permanent Impairment Assessments, Veteran Review Board (VRB) reports and ADF Transition Medicals.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Undertake analysis and review of medical statements, medical charts, specialist and imaging reports, government documents and resources.
- Have the opportunity to utilize your medical knowledge/experience in conjunction with the DVA legislation to generate comprehensive medico-legal reports.
- Encouraged to take a proactive approach to problem solving, providing solutions to enhance the accuracy and completeness of reports
- Utilise your prior skills/ training to identify any potential deficiencies in available data.
- Work within a small team, and will be required to liaise with other teams within our business
- The ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines and timeframes.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Hold a Bachelors degree or diploma in allied health, health and / or medical sciences, paramedicine, pharmacy, nursing, medical coding or another related field including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, chiropractic, osteopathy, podiatry, radiography, emergency medicine and exercise physiology.
- Basic computer literacy (we are a 90%+ paper free office)
- Cyber-security aware
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Be comfortable with attaining a relevant police check
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
Prior experience in undertaking/ writing medico-legal assessments/report writing.
