Operations Supervisor, Fyshwick

CDC is seeking an Operations Supervisor to join our dynamic and energic team that provide special needs school transport at our Fyshwick depot. This is a permanent full time role and will report into the Service Delivery Manager, and join a supportive team that forms part of the CDC regional New South Wales team. 

This role is responsible for ensuring that our bus services run smoothly, reliably, safely and to budget. The Operations Supervisor is also responsible for assisting with employee and driver adherence to the Company’s Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) and Safety Management Systems.

About you

Here is a snapshot of what we need from you:

  • No formal qualifications are required however it is desirable if you have a Certificate IV in Transport and Logistics
  • Preferably hold, or be able to hold, as a minimum, current ACT, MR licence with O endorsement and a current Working with Vulnerable People card 
  • Excellent computer skills, Excel, Work and Outlook 
  • Experience with Computer Mapping Programs and CCTV systems 
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role in the transport industry
  • Ability to interpret company policies and procedures and reports
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities whilst delivering on agreed timelines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with the support of your colleagues
  • Experience working with special needs students 
  • Excellent communication skills

The role

  • Monitor and maintain shift rosters. In conjunction with workshop requirements and driver availability 
  • Ensure that services are delivered in a manner that allows CDC to meet its contractual KPIs
  • Allocate buses and drivers to cover replacement and charter bookings ensuring correct management of fatigue and payroll processing
  • Investigate accidents/incidents by reviewing CCTV and other sources of factual information pertaining to the investigation
  • Monitor the performance of staff and take disciplinary action as required to ensure staff are performing to expected standards
  • At the beginning of each year, ensure that students are allocated appropriate services, dummy runs are completed, and all families are contacted with bus schedules.
  • Service planning for new students or changes in routes is completed throughout the year.
  • Communicate with the Depot / Service Delivery Manager, or equivalent, about issues of the day and collaborate with counterparts at other sites to drive best practice across sites
