Operations Supervisor – Rockhampton Take charge and champion safety as a Supervisor on shift at a key terminal/depotWork for an essential services provider with strong market presence, asset base and vast national networkPacific National is committed to diversity in our workforce and encourages women and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply.About the RoleThe Supervisor in Rockhampton plays a key role in providing leadership and guidance to terminal operators and drivers within the Rockhampton and Gladstone terminal, as well as leading and coordinating the day-to-day operations.The Supervisor will lead our operations teams to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of the day-to-day terminal activities and ensure freight is made available to customers in full and on time. In addition, the Supervisor is responsible for ensuring Pacific National trains run on time, safely and efficiently through consultation with Pacific National’s Integrated Planning Services department and Network Control.The supervisor will also be responsible for reviewing and planning line closures to ensure adequate labour and asset levels.Key responsibilities include:Supervising and direct employees in the execution of the operational activitiesEnsuring compliance with the relevant network access regulations and policy standardsMake available and ensure participation of employees in training, assessment, licensing and accreditation as necessaryFocus on coaching, mentoring, and safety for all employeesDeliver the planned haulage services in full and on time and where possible with efficienciesDeliver the planned terminal activities to ensure freight is made available in full and on and where possible with efficienciesDeliver rollingstock to prescribed locations for planned maintenance in full and on timeAddress out-of-course requests for additional services in a timely and flexible mannerCommitment to build excellent relationships with all customers (internal and external) and identifying and developing improved business solutions for our customers.Coordinate the stowing and un-stowing of rollingstock during planned and unplanned shutdowns including supervising shutdown activitiesRostering, asset management and maintenance scheduling.About YouTo be successful in this role, you will have a strong safety background and lead by example to improve safety in the workplace every day.Other In addition, you will have:Exceptional frontline leadership abilities and demonstrated ability to develop effective teams, build positive culture and drive changeExperience in coaching and motivating a team in a busy environmentProven strengths in problem solving and analytical abilityExperience in driving a strong safety cultureExcellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to communicate at all levelsAbility to apply business improvement thinking to operational activitiesStrong safety and quality mindset and track record of driving improved performanceA proven track record for completing high value, high quality projects on time and to budget, while maintaining a safe outcomeAbility to work weekends as requiredBackground in the rail, transport or logistics will be advantageousQualifications in Transport, Logistics or Business Management also advantageousAbout UsPacific National (PN) is the largest provider of diversified rail freight services in Australia.
