The Mater Hospital is looking for an Orderly to join us in the Surgical Ward in Rockhampton. This position is casual 8am - 2pm Monday / Friday 48-50 hrs a fortnight.Salary range: $29.59 - $32.09 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900What you'll be doingThe Orderly works as a multi-skilled member of the clinical team by providing non-clinical support to health care professionals to contribute to the delivery of safe, effective and quality patient care. Primarily this is achieved through the transportation of patients, undertaking limited duties associated with the care of patients, general assistance in clinical departments and cleaning duties.As an Orderly, your responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Transfer and porter patients, including deceased, throughout facility in adherence with mobility equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and safe working practices associated with patient handling as required;
- Relocate equipment and furniture as required;
- Transfer and position patients to/from/in beds, wheelchairs, commodes, shower chairs, trolleys, etc. as required in accordance with safe working practices;
- Courier items between departments/services as required - e.g. scripts, medications, specimens, forms, etc.;
- Assist in the delivery of basic patient care, hygiene and dietary needs under the supervision and direction of a registered health professional ensuring that associated duties are within scope of practice and expertise as required;
- Keep main thoroughfares and exits free of clutter and equipment;
- Undertake general housekeeping duties that include, but are not limited to, cleaning, carbolising beds, organising linen, restocking of equipment and disposables, maintaining the order of storerooms and waste management;
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A desire to learn and master the Orderly role.
- Hold a certificate III in Health Services Assistance or equivalent.
- Also a current certificate in providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Previous experience desired
