About the role
Mater Private Hospital Townsville is currently seeking experienced Theatre Orderlies to join their team in a permanent Full Time capacity. Our Perioperative Services department at Mater Private Hospital Townsville (MPHT) provides surgical services across 16 theatres and caters for adults and paediatrics with a variety of surgical specialities. MPHT boasts brand new state-of-the-art theatre facilities, a catheterization laboratory and separate onsite day-site surgery facilities.
Salary range: $29.59 - $32.09 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900
What you’ll be doing
As a Theatre Orderly you will be responsible for assisting with the transportation of patients throughout the hospital.
- Pre and post-surgery, as well as assist nurses and doctors with manual handling of patients
- Setting up and cleaning of medical equipment and medical gases
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical cases
- Cleaning operating rooms and maintaining equipment after each case in accordance with infection control procedures
- Undertake positioning of patients utilising manual handling principles and
- Other duties as directed
About you
To be successful in your application, you will have:
- Currently hold a Certificate III in Health Care Support (Operating Theatre Practice) or Certificate III in Health Services Assistance
- Minimum of two years previous experience in an Operating Theatre Assistant role would be highly desirable
- Demonstrated a high level of interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven ability to function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Proven ability to follow established guidelines, policies & procedures
- Basic understanding of, or ability to acquire knowledge of workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination practices and behaviours as applied in the working environment
