Due to a rapid expansion of our services at Westside Private Hospital, we have a Part time position available for an experienced Orderly/ Theatre Assistant looking to grow their career in a friendly supportive environment.

About Westside Private Hospital:

Westside Private Hospital in Taringa QLD is part of the Nexus Hospitals group. Nexus employs over 1600 talented and passionate people across 27 hospitals, as well as 3 support offices.

Located 6.8km SW of the Brisbane CBD, Taringa is serviced by Train and Bus public transport which is adjacent to the hospital.

Westside Private Hospital is a specialised short-stay facility, supporting a diverse range of specialties including Gastroenterology, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Urology, General & Colorectal Surgery, Dermatology, MOHs, IVF, Breast and Endocrine Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Oral Surgery. 

Westside Private Hospital has 4 Operating Theatres,1 procedure room, 3 treatment rooms, a 12-bed Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU), and 9-chair Stage 3 PACU, and 6-bed surgical ward.

About the Role:

As an Orderly you are a valued and integral member of the clinical team and will be well supported by a friendly, experienced and dynamic perioperative management team in a fast-paced environment. 

To be successful in this role you will have a genuine passion for providing world-class customer and patient care and want to add value to the patient experience through:

  • supporting and assisting with the safe transfer and positioning of patients 
  • assisting in the setup of operating theatres
  • maintaining equipment and take responsibility for the management and coordination of facility stock levels to ensure continuity of service. 
  • Providing patient focused care and utilising your strong clinical and customer service skills.
  • Communicating positively and actively encouraging a positive team culture and environment.
  • Focusing on maintaining current knowledge and having a commitment to professional development.
  • your ‘can do’ attitude and having an aptitude for taking initiative in a busy working environment.
  • Working collaboratively with the clinical team
  • commitment to continuous quality improvement and best practice.

About You: 

 You will have:  

  • Solid experience as an orderly within Theatre / Perioperative setting 
  • Experience managing & ordering of stock & supplies
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills  
  • Knowledge of equipment management
  • Knowledge of safe manual handling principles and practices
  • Knowledge on infection control principles
  • Ability to liaise with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to prioritise and co-ordinate work to meet patient and customer needs
  • Ability to work autonomously in an efficient and effective manner
  • A true commitment to delivering high quality patient care 
  • available to work a flexible roster, primarily Monday to Friday 6am to 7pm with some weekend rostering availability.
