At the Y, we operate two camp locations only 35 minutes north of Brisbane. The camps are set in beautiful bushland settings providing guests the opportunity to escape and recharge, or to challenge themselves through a range of adventure activities on land, in water, or up in the air.
Y Camping are currently recruiting an Outdoor Education Instructor to join our team on a casual basis located in Joyner, QLD.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Outdoor Education Instructor delivers high quality camp programs, coordinating site logistics, inspecting and maintaining activity equipment and infrastructure.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Assist in the planning, implementation, assessment and review of a high quality and diverse camp programs for clients as directed
- Ensure the safety of clients through appropriate supervision and execution of duty of care
- Actively participate in professional development opportunities including scheduled staff training sessions and meetings
- Assist with the review and development of work instructions, risk assessments, operating procedures and policies relevant to the role
- Engage in warm, responsive, positive interactions with the clients, supporting their learning and development
- Assist client groups in preparation for meals
- Work cooperatively and respectfully with other Outdoor Education Instructors and the Program Coordinator and support each other in the workplace
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate
- Tertiary qualifications in Outdoor Education or Outdoor Recreation (Certificate IV Outdoor Education or equivalent)
- Sound knowledge of computer systems including the Microsoft Office suite
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimum direction and as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability to apply sound reasoning and judgement; exercise tact; and maintain discretion
- Current Drivers Licence
- First Aid and CPR Certificate; or willingness to obtain
- Positive Notice Blue Card; or willingness to obtain
