The role
Are you a Newcastle University student who will graduate from an undergraduate degree in 2024 or who graduated from a Newcastle University undergraduate degree in 2023? We are recruiting for our 2024-25 Outreach Ambassador Team, and we want to hear from you!
Our team of Outreach Ambassadors play a vital role supporting the access projects outlined in the University’s . As an Outreach Ambassador you will deliver workshops and presentations to encourage young people from all backgrounds to consider higher education and to apply to Newcastle University. You’ll be travelling across the UK to visit schools, colleges, and Higher Education fairs, as well as supporting activity online and on campus. In 2022-23 the team delivered 700+ activities to over 125,000 students and visited more than 400 schools in 50 counties across the UK.
As a recent graduate of Newcastle University, we think you are the best person to speak to young people about what it is like to study at our university. You are engaging and enthusiastic about higher education and the doors it can open. Speaking to someone like you could make the difference in helping inspire a young person and their choices.
As an Outreach Ambassador we will invest in your development to support you to make a strong start to your career. We offer an intensive training and development programme across the year, supported by both internal and external training providers. During the event, you will have the opportunity to meet our current Outreach Ambassadors and colleagues from the Student Recruitment teams. We will talk to you about the role in more detail, you’ll have a chance to learn more about the application process and what it is like working as a colleague at Newcastle University. This will be an informal event, with refreshments provided. Please register for this event .

About you
We are looking for people who can demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills. You are enthusiastic about the benefits of higher education and motivated to inspire the next generation of Newcastle University students. You are an engaging presenter, able to tailor your approach across different contexts and to a range of audiences. You’ll be a team player who can also work independently and use your initiative. You have a positive outlook and a solution focused approach when faced with challenges.
PARTNERS students
As an Outreach Ambassador you’ll be supporting us to deliver on our Access and Participation Plan, which aims to increase the number of applications received from students who are currently underrepresented at our University. As such, we are particularly keen to hear from students and recent graduates who came to us through our . Please indicate via the drop-down box in the application form if you are a PARTNERS student.
And finally….
This role involves considerable travel, and due to the location of many schools and colleges, you need a full UK driving license. You will be required to take an enhanced DBS check as the role involves working with children and young people. During term time you will work from the office when not on visits, during school holidays there are working from home opportunities. The roles will commence on Tuesday 30th July 2024 and run until 29th August 2025.
