The task will include developing products and assessing their skill, understanding model deficiencies, identifying areas for improvement, transferring new products to operations and interaction with both Bureau Services and external stakeholders. Other primary duties include designing and delivering training material for Pacific stakeholders with the aim of advancing climate and ocean monitoring and prediction science knowledge. The appointed scientist will require an advanced understanding of the mechanisms of climate and ocean variability, which can impact weekly to seasonal predictions in the Pacific.
In addition to delivering operational tasks, you will be required to interact with Pacific stakeholders, including building partnerships and relationships with implementation partners, Pacific National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) and NMHS primary stakeholders.
