About the role: 

We are currently seeking highly motivated Packaging Operators to join our Merbein Packaging team on a fulltime, permanent basis. Reporting to the Procurement, Compliance & Planning Manager, your primary duties will include:

• Competently operate equipment and machinery according to instructions & SOPs
• Manage and maintain goods for a production run and record wastage
• Take responsibility for housekeeping; clean-up of equipment and machinery as required
• Participate in manual packing wine and company products
• Assist in the transfer and shifting of loads
• Participate in completing production as scheduled
• Communicate with Line Supervisors and Shift Coordinators as required
• Conduct stock takes, as required
• Segregate waste products and recycle, as appropriate
• Support and maintain compliance with Food Safety and Quality Management System
• Support and maintain compliance with all company WH&S policies and safe work practices
• Other duties as required.

Given the nature of the operation, overtime and shift work will be required.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. 

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 5 kg, frequently lift and/or move up to 10 kg, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 kg.

We are looking for:

• Excellent Communication Skills: This role requires a high degree of stakeholder management and presenting both internally and externally.  The successful candidate is committed to working as a team member with a high level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy and work productivity.
• Mechanical Aptitude: The successful candidate is technically minded with high level of mechanical reasoning and comprehension.
• Previous Experience: Previous experience in packaging operations is preferred but not essential. 
• Forklift License: Applicants with a forklift license would be looked upon favorably, however a current drivers license is essential.
