About The Role
This is a sweet opportunity for a hands on Packaging Technologist to ensure operational efficiency of manufacturing packaging systems, all packaging aspects of innovation and cost-saving projects, focus on process simplification, and provision of technical support for end-to-end supply chain initiatives relating to packaging/packing including partnering with vendors/suppliers. This is a hands on role as champion for the packaging priorities of the organization with all stakeholders including production, maintenance, operations and commercial.
The opportunity:
Packaging Technical Management
- Work with Production, Engineering and Purchasing to ensure new products/packaging are manufactured efficiently and packing equipment operates efficiently, effectively and in specification.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and minimise production disruptions.
- New floor layout designs
- Lead and collaborate with Production on initiatives around waste, labour, scheduling/planning
- Act as conduit from Production packing hall to maintenance to ensure line performance and schedule adherence
- Own and manage palletising room performance, including improvements and opportunities
New Product Development
- Develop packaging solutions for innovation, renovation, sustainable and operational (cost savings, quality, complexity reduction) on time and in full, by following best practices in packaging.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop new packaging solutions to support and fuel our innovation pipeline.
- Drive the implementation of sustainable packaging platforms and targets, including management of the Packaging Covenant process
- Source, in conjunction with Purchasing, new packaging and raw materials to ensure business continuity and delivery of NPD.
Sustainable Cost Improvement
- Pack consolidation programs in context of end to end supply chain, from product packing through to shippers and pallet requirements
- Find, implement, and drive cost improvements in packaging and production processes.
- Be the central co-ordination point for packaging cost-out projects.
Process Development
- Supervise for new production and existing packaging/products in the plant.
- Assist in problem solving in production
To be successful in this position, you will bring:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role within FMCG, food or dairy production environments
- Technical proficiency in packaging technology and materials, including experience with label development software, ERP, and other systems.
- Demonstrated creativity and passion for food packaging and sustainability, with a track record of delivering valuable outcomes.
- Demonstrated superior problem-solving skills
- Resilient, driven and curious.
- Self-Starter with the ability to lead key packaging initiatives and manage multiple projects and commitments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to motivate peers and communicate with all levels of management.
- Project Management Skills - experience in leading and delivering projects from concept to completion.
