Operating from their 700-ha farming operation, they boast a vertically integrated process and a cutting-edge packing facility featuring a recently installed MAF 10-lane Citrus Packing Facility and 3 Compac lines.
To drive continuous improvement, they are actively seeking a dynamic Packing Shed Manager to join their operation in the scenic region of Dimbulah, QLD.
Your Role
As the Packing Shed Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and ensuring the smooth and efficient operations of the packing facility. Your responsibilities will include supervising staff, ensuring fruits are packed to the highest standards, and managing a team of approximately 5 permanent staff and 30 casual seasonal staff.
Packing between 300 and 400 pallets per day during peak season, your duties will extend to overseeing maintenance programs and rigorously uphold strict adherence to all food safety protocols, whilst coordinating logistics for effective packing facility management.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to –
- Oversee, train and mentor casual employees to ensure a smooth packing operation.
- Set up batches and daily orders in meeting customers’ specifications.
- Organise daily startup and shutdowns of machinery, general machinery repair and maintenance.
- Manage workers’ performance on the job - productivity, OH&S, initiatives, and absenteeism.
- Monitor an accurate record of production activities – product specifications, cleaning records, productivity records, and QA records.
- Maintain Packing Shed supplies and liaise with suppliers to ensure stock levels are maintained.
- Ensure food safety and quality requirements, and health regulations are met.
- Implement workplace health and safety (WHS) procedures and processes.
About You
We are seeking a candidate with strong organisational skills, a systematic approach to problem-solving, outstanding attention to detail, and relevant experience. Flexibility, robust communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse backgrounds are essential. Previous management experience in MAF line or Compac Sorting Equipment is essential.
Mechanically minded, you’ll need to be a quick thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment. To be considered for the role, it’s important you can address the following:
- Significant experience in supervisory/management experience in a packing facility.
- MAF and/or Compac experience.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating adaptability and resilience.
- Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse workforce.
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet set timelines.
- Strong attention to detail, thoroughness and problem-solving.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and quality standards, as well as workplace health and safety.
- Forklift licence (desirable).
- Current driver’s license.
