Come and join this supportive, fun, and enthusiastic bunch of health professionals who are committed to growing and further developing our Paeds OT services for the community.

Our values of being Friendly, Client Centred and Local are who we are and what we’re about.

Make a REAL difference and join our Paeds team today.

About the role:

In this role, you will be working with pre school-age children, who have developmental delays. You will be assisting them to realise their potential and to positively participate in family, pre-school and community life.  There is a strong emphasis on parent coaching and capacity building, using strategies and play that can be easily replicated at home.

This Community Health role is currently funded for 2 to 2.5 days a week plus 1 day of salaried NDIS activity. The role will offer you the opportunity to develop and learn in a supportive environment where you can work co-operatively within a team of dedicated professionals to provide high quality, family-centred, child-focused therapy services. The core team includes Paediatric OTs, Speech Pathologists and a Play Therapist. We also have access to other disciplines as required.

This role is suitable for a Grade 2 or an experienced Grade 1 willing to grow.

Position Responsibilities:

In the role you will:

  • Provide targeted, evidence–based therapeutic intervention to facilitate children’s participation and occupational performance within the home, community, and educational environment.
  • Work in partnership to build parents’/care givers’ capability to actively participate in their child’s learning and transfer of skills learnt in the clinical setting to the home in order to ensure the best therapeutic outcomes. If the child has NDIS funding, this includes working together to achieve their NDIS goals.
  • Consult with parents, childcare educators, preschool educators, and other team members to support the transfer of skills to other learning environments.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate therapeutic groups and programs for children (eg: school readiness), including co-facilitation of groups with other members of the team.
  • Provide services in the centre, on a domiciliary basis and within the community (eg. kindergarten & childcare visits), where appropriate.
  • In consultation with the other members of the Paediatric Team, assist eligible children to access NDIS funding, including completion of assessments and required documentation.
  • Safely utilise suitable occupational therapy equipment and act within the infection control policy of the Service.
  • Network with other agencies in order to support and advocate for / on behalf of clients and their parents/caregivers.
  • Partner with community-based organisations to enhance the sustainability of Inspiro-initiated programs.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and a high standard of occupational therapy.
  • Record statistical data and maintain client records.

About You:

  • You will be a friendly, caring Paediatric Occupational Therapist, ideally a Grade 2, but a Grade 1 with some experience looking for their next step will also be considered
  • Hold a Tertiary degree approved by the Australian Association of Occupational Therapists
  • Have current registration with AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist
  • Experience and/or placement with children’s services that explore developmental difficulties with families, preferably within the primary health sector
  • NDIS experience would be an advantage but is not required. Assistance to understand NDIS requirements will be supported
  • Ability to manage time effectively, to prioritise tasks, and manage client files, waitlists and reporting requirements
  • Ability to build new partnerships and participate in established early childhood networks.

You will also:

  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills to communicate with children and families in a range of settings
  • Have strong emotional and cultural intelligence, with the ability to self-reflect
  • Take a collaborative approach and be genuinely committed to working with others to achieve outcomes, thriving in a busy, supportive team environment
  • Have a growth mindset, be genuinely curious with a willingness to learn new skills.
Essential

To be the successful candidate you must:

  • meet the position requirements,
  • undertake a current Police Record Check,
  • hold an Employee Working with Children Check, and
  • an NDIS worker clearance check will also be required if you don’t have one currently
  • meet the mandatory COVID-19 vaccination requirements.

Inspiro may request additional background checks subject to current legislation.
