  • Total Indicative Remuneration - Classification - MDP2 - Medical Practitioner -$106,828 - $158,885  (includes award salary, superannuation and any other monetary benefits)
  • Employment Full time - Term Contract (temporary up to 2 Mar 2027)

The Women’s & Children’s Health Network provides state of the art health care for women, babies, children and young people across South Australia.  We are the state’s leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions as well as being SA’s largest maternity and obstetric service.

The Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Paediatric Division as a Paediatric Advance Trainee/Registrar from 1st April 2024 to 4th April 2027 on a full-time capacity.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Participate in outpatient clinics, including assessing and managing new patients, overseeing junior medical officers, and following up on ward patients.
  • Contribute to inpatient care, including assessing new admissions, managing patients daily, planning discharges, and consulting with senior staff.
  • Manage paediatric emergencies, participate in trauma and retrieval services, coordinate patient transport, and perform procedures under supervision. Also, assist with investigations and research projects.
  • Ensure patients and families are well-informed, supported, and their complaints addressed promptly.
  • Foster a positive work culture that values customer service, employee well-being, and innovation.

As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Possess Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) or equivalent qualification and registered with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner.
  • Demonstrate clinical proficiency, effective teamwork, and strong communication skills in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Capable of working under stress and high workloads, with problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Maintain a positive attitude, adapt to change, and commit to client and family participation in care, along with adherence to quality management principles.
  • Bring a minimum of 4 years satisfactory experience in medical roles in recognized teaching hospitals, completion of Basic Training requirements, and broad knowledge in the chosen subspecialty field.
