The Senior Registrar role encompasses three key responsibilities: clinical, leadership, and education. The incumbent is tasked with providing guidance and supervision to junior medical staff, involving administration/management duties, teaching, education, research, quality assurance, and conflict resolution. The successful candidate is encouraged to explore their clinical interests, with clinics available in General Paediatrics, Endocrinology and Diabetes, Gastroenterology, and Respiratory Medicine. Additional opportunities include participation in other visiting subspecialty clinics.
Active participation in a well-supported on-call consultant roster is expected, with a first-on-call rotation alongside Staff Specialist Paediatricians in a 1 in 6 capacity. The role also provides opportunities to engage in research or receive assistance in developing a research area of interest.

The Facility
The facility serves as a prominent teaching institution for the ACT and its surrounding regions, maintaining a strong affiliation with The Australian National University Clinical School. Their Department of Paediatrics offers comprehensive services, attending to approximately 450 inpatients and 1000 outpatients on a monthly basis. The department is manned by a dedicated team, including 6.3 Staff Specialists (covering 3.8 FTE General Paediatrics, 2 Endocrinology, and 1 Gastroenterology/General Paediatrics), 5 VMOs, a Senior Registrar in general paediatrics, along with 8 Registrars and 8 Residents. The Department of Paediatrics holds accreditation from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and is recognized as a site for the RACP Fellowship clinical examinations.
