Holy Covenant is a vibrant Anglican Church in Cook. It is an inclusive and diverse community that values treating everyone with respect and dignity.
We are seeking a manager who will organise and operate our church office by managing its business operations and supporting the ministry team.
Tasks and responsibilities
The office manager will assist the rector to grow and develop Holy Covenant’s ministry by:
- managing daily operations including
- reception duties, responding to enquiries, maintaining the filing system, general correspondence and desktop IT systems
- maintaining calendars, rostering and bookings
- ordering supplies and resources
- building and developing relationships within the congregations and community
- managing parish communications by creating bulletins, flyers, posters, social media and event promotion
- coordinating and encouraging volunteers
- overseeing church facilities
- developing effective systems for administration
- developing and delivering special projects identified by Parish Council
- undertaking other duties as required at the direction of the rector.
Skills and experience
The parish manager plays a key role in enabling Holy Covenant to be an inclusive and diverse community that is effective in fulfilling its vision, living out its values and pursuing its mission. Consequently, the manager is expected to:
- have well-developed office management skills and experience organising and delivering projects
- work with staff and volunteers collegially with respect and without prejudice, particularly those who are gender or sexually diverse
- demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly preparing newsletters and social media content
- be self-motivated with the capacity to identify and deliver goals with limited supervision
- solve problems and deliver outcomes in a timely manner
- demonstrate integrity, including maintaining confidentiality and safely handling sensitive information
- value their own growth and development
- have a personal faith, a commitment to the parish community, and a good understanding of Anglican life.
The successful candidate must meet Diocesan safe ministry requirements including a Working with Vulnerable People card.
Work arrangements
Hours are negotiable at around 15 hours per week, paid at award rates under the Clerks—Private Sector Award (Level 2), plus mandatory employer superannuation.
The position is a permanent part-time role, subject to a probationary period of 6 months and ongoing regular performance reviews.
