JOIN A SKILLED TEAM THAT LOOKS AFTER THE TOOWOOMBA REGION.About Parks & RecreationThe Parks & Recreation Team are the secret behind the Toowoomba Region’s beautiful parks and gardens. With over 7000 hectares of public gardens, bushland park, sports and recreation facilities and other open space and an extensive urban forest, the Toowoomba region is well known for its liveability and green infrastructure. The Parks and Recreation Services Branch is responsible for planning, developing and maintaining our beautiful green infrastructure, some of which is heritage listed, and keeping up with the strong growth across the region. The team is a diverse mix of approximately 200 people working as labourers, gardeners, arborists, horticulturalists, plant operators, rangers, cleaners, project managers, landscape architects, administrators, regulators and their managers and leaders.About the positionThe Park and Pest Management Planning Officer will be primarily responsible for compiling information about Toowoomba Regions Bushland Park Estate including the Dam estate and developing park management plans, pest and fire management action plans, visitor management plans and assisting with prioritising and implementing programs for both individual bushland parks under Council control and the bushland park estate as a whole.This position will work under general direction of the Coordinator Conservation and Pest Management Services and will be required to work closely with operational and other technical staff with Conservation and Pest Management.This position will work under general supervision.

  • The salary range for this position is $77,223.52 - $82,594.58 gross per annum, plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop documents to a publishable standard.
  • Demonstrated networking and community engagement skills and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce quality strategic and operational plans for park and Pest Management with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work to deadlines and to deliver on schedule.
  • Possess an excellent understanding of park management, fire, visitor and Pest Management and have demonstrated relevant experience of either planning or on ground activities.
  • Working knowledge of/or the ability to gain an understanding of public sector management in the context of local government.
  • Understanding of and commitment to Council’s Organisational Value and Behaviour of Teamwork.
