If you want to help shape the future of Frankston, now is the time to join our team!About the positionCouncil's Recreation Centre Horticulture Department is looking for a Parks Maintenance Officer who will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing Frankston's parks and reserves areas and horticulture sites.The main responsibilities will include:
- Carry out horticultural and lawn maintenance, renewal and renovation works in accordance with works programs, management plans and industry standards to ensure open space reserves retain high quality, aesthetically pleasing and safe areas.
- Maintain accurate records of completed tasks, inspections and risks as well as assist the Team Leader by providing input into reports, collecting data and maintaining accurate records of completed tasks.
- Provide general information to the public on open space maintenance practices, horticultural and lawn maintenance, the use and care of plants and trees, weed management and horticultural techniques.
- Cooperate with Council in relation to any actions taken to comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 and ensure that actions taken by the employee do not interfere with or place at risk the health, safety or wellbeing of the employee or any person in the workplace.
- Certificate III or above qualification in Horticulture, Conservation or Turf Management related discipline
- Experience maintaining horticultural, lawn and open space areas in parks, sporting reserves, recreation areas
- Experience operating lawn and horticultural maintenance equipment such as tractors, ride on mowers, hedge trimmers, brushcutters and associated horticultural maintenance hand tools
- A current Victorian Drives Licence
- A strong understanding of safe work practices
