About the opportunity
You might think you already know a lot about Bupa. You’ll know we provide health insurance and aged care services across Australia and you’ve probably also seen our dental and optical clinics in your local shopping centres. But what you might not realise is that we also provide support to several government departments including delivering health services to Defence Force personnel and their families in Australia.
Located just north of Newcastle, the RAAF Base Williamtown is the Air Force's main fighter pilot training base. Over 3000 people work on the base (both civilians and military).
The Williamtown Health Centre supports all defence members and their families on base, providing a range of services including Immunisations, Specialist Appointments, Outpatients, Physiotherapy, Medical Imaging, Psychology, Pharmaceutical Services and Audiometry. We play a key role in ensuring the overall health and wellbeing of all our defence members on base.
About the role
We’re looking for an experienced GP Trainer to work from Williamtown Health Centre on a permanent Part Time basis for 4 days a week
As a civilian GP within our Health Centre you will:
- Provide General Practice consultations, referrals and health screenings
- Conduct occupational medical and health assessments for all defence personnel to determine employability and deployability
- Provide appropriate medical advice to Base and Unit Commanders regarding employability and deployability of individual members
- Provide advice and support to Base and Unit Commanders on general medical issues such as injury prevention, preventive medicine, disease control and hygiene
- Provide supervision Medical Officers in accordance with FRACGP guidelines
This is an incredible role for GP keen to practice interesting and diverse medicine, or a GP with an interest and passion for occupational health and sports medicine or eager to grow their skills with financially supported training into aviation medicine. Overall, this is your opportunity to make a real contribution to the provision of health services to our defence force members while working in a supportive and collegiate team.
About you
Please note: You must be an Australian citizen and be able to attain and maintain a baseline security clearance from the Defence security and vetting service.
We’re looking for someone who:
- has excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- is a personable and passionate GP with a genuine commitment to delivering health outcomes for our defence member
You will also require:
Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a medical practitioner in Australia with AHPRA
A Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP), Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or Vocational Registration
Accreditation as a General Practice Trainer at Principal/Lead Supervisor level or commitment to achieving his accreditation
