Are you an experienced researcher comfortable with working through survey design, data collection, qualitative and quantitative analysis and reporting recommendations in a social policy setting?
The National Carer Strategy will provide a framework for coordination of carer policy across Commonwealth portfolios including aged care, disability, veterans’ affairs and mental health. It will be developed in consultation with carers across Australia to ensure it reflects the diversity of carers and the challenges they face.
Carers Australia will support the Department of Social Services to undertake a range of consultation and data collection to assist the outreach activities necessary to develop a robust and representative strategy.
This project commenced 1 June 2024 and is due to be finalised 31 August 2024. Critical to the success will be an experienced Researcher to assist the Project Manager and Project Administrator. That's where you come in.
Your role would be to focus on the data collection and analysis. The project team will collect primary research data from each engagement activity with carers from across the country. This includes quantitative data and qualitative feedback such as specific recommendations from carers.
Once collected, your role will be to analyse the information gathered to identify common themes, priorities, and areas where improvements are needed.
The following key deliverables will be the focus of your duties:
- Joining survey data to administrative data
- Developing an analysis plan and conducting the statistical analysis
- Drafting the findings of the research
- Providing recommendations for next steps
- Regular reporting
You will need to be proficient at Microsoft Excel and Word.
Personally, you are highly organised with strong interpersonal and communication skills. You re a self-starter and a keen problem solver. A true team-player, you are confident and able to work with minimal supervision.
This role is employed directly as a casual with Carers Australia and will pay between $80 - $95 per hour plus super. It will be between 22.5 hours a week, with a flexible split of hours based upon availability during business hours.
