It principally involves engaging with State and Federal Governments to build connections and relationships that influence and impact policies and services to improve the health and wellbeing of children. The aim of the team is to strengthen and better coordinate our engagement with all levels of government so that we speak with one voice as an Institute and are recognised as a trusted partner.We now have an exciting opportunity for a Partnerships Manager (Aboriginal Health) who will support the Director First Nations Leadership and Strategy in the management of partnerships with Aboriginal health and community organisations. The position holder will work with key research teams, particularly those involved in the Aboriginal Grand Challenge and Journey Together research projects, to facilitate three-way interactions between the Institute, our partners in Aboriginal health, and Government.Working within the broader Engagement and Partnerships Team and closely with the Institute's Kulunga Aboriginal Unit, this role will also actively manage partnerships with Aboriginal health and community organisations, supporting their capacity to use evidence-based research to deliver impact.Some of your duties in this role will include, but not be limited to:
  • Support our partners to build their capacity to work effectively with Government to influence service delivery and maximise impact.
  • Working with the Head of Government Relations, assist in the development of a strategic Aboriginal health engagement strategy to build impact and translation of research outcomes.
  • Working with the Research Development team, identify grant opportunities for partners to build capacity and impact and support partners with submissions.
  • Track and maintain Government engagement activities in Aboriginal health, including submissions and meetings.
Support internal communication, particularly across Partnerships and Engagement, to support activities. Conveniently located within the Perth Children's Hospital, this exciting opportunity will be offered on a permanent full-time. Part time may be considered for the right candidate.About YouThis position is well suited to someone with experience in Aboriginal health, government relations or stakeholder engagement and a proven capacity to provide advice and support.The key to your success will be your demonstrated experience in the following:
  • Good understanding of issues and challenges in the Aboriginal health and community engagement landscape, including the range of State and Federal Government authorities operating this space.
  • Good interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Ability to research and analyse information and support the development of well-informed policy positions and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare proposals and briefing notes and deliver presentations.
  • Sound planning and organisational skills, including an understanding of how to use systems and processes to support activities.
