St John Ambulance (Vic) has been saving lives and delivering care and compassion throughout Victoria for 140 years. Our volunteers and staff are the lifeblood of everything we do. We are currently recruiting for Patient Transport Officers for casual shifts for our Ballarat branch. On call shifts will be available for candidates that live within 45 minutes of branches.
The Opportunity
As a Patient Transport Officer you will be engaged in the care and transport of non-emergency patients in accordance with St John Ambulance Patient Transport Quality Systems and other regulated standards. This includes driving patients in a St John Ambulance, performing patient assessment and intervention, providing clinical care and treatment during on-road transport, and engaging with your patients to offer calming and supportive patient care. This role requires compassion and a sense of community spirit while you deliver routine care and transportation for non-emergency patients to and from healthcare facilities, clinics and private residences. Rostered shifts are generally 8 to 10 hours in duration and at varied times throughout the day, seven days a week.

Key Responsibilities
- Care, direction and transport of low and medium acuity non-emergency patients
- Comply with organisation policies and procedures
- Work as part of a team to delvier high quality Patient Transport
- Ensure vehicles and equipment are in working order and fit for purpose
- Maintain cleaniness and infection control through following procedures and regulations
- Contribute to a zero-harm working environment and culture
- Minimum Certificate III in Non-Emergency Patient transport (for PTOs)
- Valid & full Australian Driver Licence and safe driving record
- Passion for providing safe patient care and transportation
- Understanding and ability of confidentiality requirements
- Ability to work within a team
